Events, Presentations & Workshops
In collaboration with Breast Cancer Action’s Fit & Fab exercise program and Kelly’s Boutique, Haley Rehab will offer free arm circumference measurement clinics for people at risk for lymphedema. Stay tuned for dates and locations across Ottawa, starting January 15.
Haley Rehab has partnered with Breast Cancer Action for many years, to help spread the word to women with breast cancer about lymphedema and ways to reduce the risk.
The Lymphedema: Take Control project developed an exercise program, resources for women, and recommendations to reduce risk. One of the key recommendations was for breast cancer patients who have a lymph node dissection to get a baseline arm circumference measurement and education about lymphedema risk reduction practices. This recommendation led to arm circumference measurements being included as part of Breast Cancer Action’s Fit & Fab exercise program from January 2015.
We support and mentor the next generation of therapists by offering placements to students in physiotherapy, massage therapy and physiotherapy assistant programs.
Past placements at Haley Rehab have included students from Dalhousie University (physiotherapy post-graduate degree program), McMaster University (physiotherapy post-graduate degree program), University of Ottawa (physiotherapy and kinesiology undergraduate degree programs), Humber College (physiotherapy assistant program), Conestoga College (physiotherapy assistant program), Algonquin College (massage program) and Everest College (massage program).
If you’re interested in specializing in cancer rehab, why not consider Haley Rehab for your placement?
